please note "Victimized" the word they use means if your lucky a terrible physical beating, and that is on the milder scale. (I cannot remember exact source, & I am giving conservative odds, as I am vague on remembering the exact figure.) So assume approx over 50-60% of adults are going to statically get a beating, mugging, rape, or serious weapons attacks on average of 3 times during adult life...

American Dept. of Justice & United States Federal Bureau of Investigation F.B.I. Crime Reports:

* Men are victimized my violent street attacks at rates 22% higher than women

* Men are more likely to be victimized by a stranger. ("Victimized" they mean violent physical attacks ok!)
(E.g. A drugged up psycho attacks you for no reason as you walk from a late night in the office.)

* Most homicide victims 35% are under the age of 35. 11% are under the age of 18.

* In 26% (more than 1 in 4) of the violent crimes committed, a weapon was present.
* Homicides are often committed with weapons. 65% with firearms, 13% with knives, 6% with
    blunt objects and 16% with other weapons.

You can work the odds out. Can't You?

The American F.B.I.  has warned you of the odds of violence, chances are it is coming your way stactically. Remember too, most of us do not have the same legal rights to use a legally held weapon in self defense to fatally nutralize an invader breaking into your home as many Americans do. 

So you got an extra challange to over come, if your country does not allow you to carry a gun or tactical weapon legally for self protection. Ireland where I grew up, a pen knife or a can of Pepper Spray is illegal to have with up to 2 years in prison. You need to learn some form of self defense and I mean Self Defense that really works in the street from an instructor who has been in real street fight situations himself. (why does not matter). What matters is your instructor in Self Defense must NOT be as Bruce Lee said from the "inside dry land school of swimming".

Would you fly on a Jumbo 747 long haul flight, if just before take off, you found out the Captain & Co Pilot never ever flew a real commerical passenger jet, and they only trained on flight simulators? Unless its a 9/11 job, no way, you would be out of that 747 like a scalded cat.

You need to find a simple method of Self Defence Training, a few simple deadly strikes is all you need. Personally I in over 35 incidents working security etc between 2003 - 2005 I used average 2 - 3 basic open handed strikes, (pre-empted a micro second before strikes  with a good Gypsy Spit into my attackers face. No I do not find this disgusting, Spitting a micro second before you strike into attackers face, is an excellent non lethal ambush techniques. Anyway attackers are criminals low lives, who only deserve on a good day to be spat at for stating an act of violence on innocent people. And stand over that comment any time any place any where. OK? )

Find a Krav Maga Fight Self Defense instructor be it Real Krav Maga, Reality Street Fighting Martial Arts or Commando Combatives hand to hand combat training, or learn for 18 months - 2 years kick boxing, Muay Thai or Boxing & get in plenty of black eyes sparring hard.

You really cannot top full contact striking combat boxing kick boxing experience, get in the ring get over your fears, and you will within 18 month or so of 2 or 3 sessions a week, a man not to be messed with. (I still box as part of krav maga, and do as I teach, and got cracked ribs from my last session over 6 weeks ago, still.
